Students practise the verbal counting sequence from one to ten and back again, building fluency with the forward and backward number word order.
K.CC.A.1: Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Students count small groups of objects up to five, learning to touch each object once and say one number name per object.
K.CC.B.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Students use a five-frame to show quantities from zero to five, placing one counter in each cell to build a visual model of each number.
K.CC.B.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Students connect counted groups of objects to the written numerals 0 through 5, practising the link between a quantity and its symbol.
K.CC.B.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Students place two groups of objects side by side and determine which has more, fewer, or whether they are equal, for quantities up to five.
Students add one more object to a collection and identify the new total, discovering that each counting number is one more than the one before.
K.CC.C.8: Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals using student generated ways to record the comparison...
Students practise recognising, reading, and forming the numerals 0, 1, and 2, connecting each symbol to the quantity it represents.
K.CC.A.3: Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no...
Students practise recognising, reading, and forming the numerals 3, 4, and 5, extending their written number skills.
K.CC.A.3: Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no...
Students instantly recognise small quantities up to five without counting, using dot patterns and five-frame arrangements to develop subitising skills.
K.CC.B.5: Quickly recognize and name the quantity of up to 5 objects briefly shown in structured or unstructured arrangements with...
Students count groups of objects up to ten, applying one-to-one correspondence and keeping track of which objects have been counted.
K.CC.A.1: Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Students use a ten-frame to show quantities from zero to ten, seeing how numbers relate to five and to ten.
K.CC.B.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Students match counted collections of up to ten objects to the correct written numeral, strengthening the link between quantity and symbol.
K.CC.B.4: Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
Students compare two groups of up to ten objects to decide which is greater, which is less, or whether they are equal.
Students add one more counter to collections up to nine and state the new total, reinforcing the plus-one pattern across larger numbers.
K.CC.C.8: Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals using student generated ways to record the comparison...
Students learn to read and write the numerals 6 and 7, practising correct formation and connecting each numeral to its quantity.
K.CC.A.3: Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no...
Students learn to read and write the numerals 8, 9, and 10, completing their ability to record all numbers to ten.
K.CC.A.3: Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no...
